Hello Crafty Friends!!!

Michelle Ruelle here and I’m so excited to share with you
my guest designer project for Gerda Steiner Designs today. Thank you Gerda
for this opportunity ☺

My card features the ADORABLE Melon Friends stamp set. I saw this stamp set
and I was IMMEDIATELY obsessed and needed to add it to my collection. It’s
absolutely perfect for your hello and thank you cards, and the Dinosaur and Bear
are BEYOND adorable.

I added this adorable dinosaur to a mini slimline card (3 ¼” x 6”). Then, I ink
blended the background and grass, and colored my images with my Copic
Markers (YG17, YG23, YG25, G07, G09, G28, R20, R22, R24 and BG10).

I glued my watermelons directly to the card and added the dinosaur with foam
tape for dimension. Lastly, Stamped my sentiment directly on my card with
Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I hope you enjoyed my card, and it has inspired you to get crafty!

Hello, it’s Tammy Massey, and I’m excited to be back as a guest designer on the Gerda Steiner blog! Today, I’m sharing a fun-fold slimline card I created with the Little Things stamp set. 

I have been in love with this little guy since I first saw him on @gerdasteinerdesigns Instagram back in January, so to finally create with him is like taking the cutest boy in school to the prom. Definitely worth the wait!

To understand this card, it helps to see it standing up on display. Here, you can see the three-panel accordion fold design. 

The card began with a whole sheet of cardstock that I scored in thirds and then folded like an accordion. Starting at the bottom, I stamped the first image, and then I used a hill-shaped die – and a partial die cutting technique – to cut just the first panel. After that cut, I trimmed away the excess paper above the hill. 

From there, I continued up the panel, stamping the middle image, and then using another hill-shaped die and cutting away the space above that mole’s head. On that panel, I also stamped the sentiment, bending it a little to follow the curve of the hill. 

The final image is stamped on the third (back) panel. Along with this mole, I also stamped the sun image from the Hello Sunshine set. Since this 3rd panel is full size, there is room beneath the mole for a personal message to the recipient. 

It looks a little weird, but here’s what the card looks like opened up. 

I colored all the images with Copic markers. Finally, I added a few highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen, and I traced the dandelion fluff with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen.

And Holey Moley, there you have it! The absolute cutest little guy…times three!

Jen here and I’m excited to be back with another post for Gerda Steiner Designs. Today I am sharing a bright and cheerful card created with images from the Hello Sunshine stamp set.

I started this card by ink blending a background panel with sunny colors – I used Hero Hues reactive inks in lemon drop and creamsicle. I ran that panel through an embossing folder for lots of texture. I created the next layer by stamping the sun image from the stamp set in the same 2 ink colors. I also added some ink splatters with the lemon drop ink. I stamped the bear on a piece of white cardstock and added the “happy birthday sunshine” sentiment on his sign.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Tri-blend alcohol markers. I colored the bear withearth brown blend, added some bright pink on his cheeks and ears, and the tiniest amount of orange to color the sun. I added some white gel pen highlights and black glaze pen on his nose and eyes. I cut the bear out with a circle die and also added an orange cardstock mat so the image would really “pop” against the background. I finished the card off with some coordinating sequins.

My card features one of the adorable stamps in the “Cupcake Mice” stamp set.
To create this card, I started with an A2 size card panel cut from 80 LB Neenah Smooth Solar White Classic Crest Cardstock.
I stamped the birthday mouse with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink in the lower right side of the card panel and colored it with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils:

Nose, tail and inner ears: E93, YR82, shaded with Deco Peach (PC1013)
Remaining portions of the images were colored with markers only:

Cupcake Wrapper: R17, R14, R12, R29
Frosting and Cake: BG15, BG13, BG11, YR31, YR30, YR21
Ground: E51, E41, E31

The sentiment was stamped to the left of the hat with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

I used the A2 Lacy Layers Die set from Waffle Flower to cut out the cardstock layers.
I adhered the blue and white pieces to a piece of copy paper cut down smaller than the blue
frame and used foam tape to adhere the entire piece to the black cardstock background.

Finally, I added three red clay hearts around the mouse to finish off my card.

Hello, crafty friends!

I am Tammy Massey, and I am honored and excited to be a guest designer on the Gerda Steiner blog today. I’m new here; it’s nice to meet you.

For sure, Gerda Steiner images are the cutest things on the planet, but I also love that they seem to coordinate well with each other, both in style and in scale. So, when I got my hands on the In Your Corner set, I immediately started wondering what else this little guy could hold on to. 

And so, this happened.

For these cards, I chose a unique card size that’s roughly 2.5 x 3.5”, partly because I wanted the image to fill the entire card, but mostly because I wanted to use the tiny, long-ago abandoned envelopes I found in my desk drawer. 

For my first card, I stamped the image just as it was intended, with no alteration. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Prismacolor colored pencils, blending with Gamsol for a smooth finish. I finished the image with a few white gel pen highlights, and a layer of Glossy Accents to fancy up the heart. The sentiments are stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink, which always gives crisp results.

Then the alterations began.

To create the gift-giving mouse, I stamped the original mouse onto masking paper and then stamped the small present from the Season’s Tweetings set right on top of the heart. This helped me see exactly where to fussy cut the present but leave the mouse’s tiny hands intact. On the card, I first stamped the present image, then masked over it and stamped the original corner mouse on top. After coloring this card, I added a slightly altered sentiment from the Cupcake Mice set. 

The third card uses the tiny cupcake and another sentiment from the Cupcake Mice set, but the masking and coloring process is the same. Admittedly, this cupcake might be more than the little guy can handle, but hey, I get it: more is more, especially when we’re talking about cake. No shame.

And there you have it: three cards, each a bit unique, but all created with the same stamp set. I hope this encourages you to look at your products a little differently. Versatility might be hiding in the corner; you just need to find it.

Jen here and I’m excited to be back on Gerda Steiner Designs blog. Today I ams haring a card made with two stamp sets – Little Things and Cupcake Mice. When I saw the mole blowing the dandelions in the Little Things stamp set, I knew I had to have him blowing out a birthday candle!

The stamps in the two sets paired together perfectly and came together just as I imagined. I stamped the birthday scene on white cardstock and colored the images with Ohuhu alcohol markers. I used YGs on the mole, BRs for the earth, yellows on the cupcake and candle, and blues for the cupcake wrapper and the glasses worn by the birthday mole. I stamped a cupcake pattern on the background panel with a stamp from Cupcake Mice in a color that coordinated with my images. I popped up the panel with the image and added some twine to tie everything together.

Today the puppies and I are heading out for another ride, this time to the country.  I live just outside DC and we have just come through cherry blossom and azalea season, so I was inspired to add a touch of spring to this outing with Gerda Steiner Designs “Enjoy The Ride Puppies” stamp set.

These puppies remind us that every day is a gift and we need to make time for a little fun!!

As with my earlier post I wanted to make sure the puppies could truly hang out of the window to catch the breeze, so I fussy cut the window out of the car door. I also stamped just the rolled down window part of the stamp on vellum using StazOn Jet Black ink (I discovered StazOn was a must so that the ink didn’t smear), fussy cut it out and attached it behind the window frame.  Puppies were also fussy cut and I stamped an extra set of paws for the second puppy so he could hang onto the window.

I used distress inks and cloud and grass stencils to fill in the background and copics to color the puppies and car:

Puppy 1:  E37 E15 E13 R14 R43 R32 R30

Puppy 2:  E34 E33 E31 R32 R30

Sunglasses:  C8 C6 C4 and then added some Glossy Accents to the glasses

Today it's my turn once again to present you a card of mine.

Since I long for sun, sea and beach so much, I took the “Catch a Wave” set and created a scene from it.  The text comes from the “Melon Muncher” set.

It would really be too nice to go for a walk on the beach now. But unfortunately I live far away from the sea and the beach and it's anything but summer weather here at the moment. Yesterday there was even a real storm with hail. Typical Germany. 

I colored the images with Copics, the backgrounds are wiped with Distress Oxides.

The background is one-layering, but the duck, the sun and the sentiment I put on the card with spacer tape.

I’m pawsitively delighted to share a new stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs: ”Enjoy The Ride Puppies.”  We can all learn a lesson from our four-legged friends about enjoying the little things in life, like rolling down the window and letting the breeze hit our face.

Today the puppies are enjoying a ride through the city, taking in the scene and hoping the destination is the dog park.

I combined the puppies and their car ride with the GSD “Skyline” stamp set.  To allow the puppies to stick their head out of the window, I fussy cut the window out of the car door. I am soooo excited to be Guest Designing for Gerda Steiner Designs! They have a new release featuring these DARLING moles! This set is called Little Things. I just love the sentiment and their cute little glasses.

This design was a tricky one. A whole car stamp would be huge, so I went with a simple outline instead. Feel free to extend those in any way possible. 

The coordinating dies cut out just the window area, leaving the car frame intact. This way, you can easily "tuck" your puppy stamps in for that adorable peeking pose.

All inspired by a silly sketch (we've all been there!) of those irresistible pups gazing out car windows. I just had to make this stamp set – it's so much fun and lets you get creative!

after a long break, I'm pleased to show you something of mine again.

Even though I like the collage cards, I wanted to stamp a scene again. I used 4 sets from Gerda Steiner Designs for this. The cute cat and the cute dog are from the “On the table” set. Aren't they just so cute how they long for the cake? 

The little bear with the cake is from the “More than pie” set.

I stamped the fence 3 times next to each other. It comes from the “Hoppiness” set and the “Happy Birthday” comes from the “Happy Hoppy” set. 

I think it's great that you can combine so many sets with each other.

As always, I colored with Copics.

The cat with W7, W5, W3, W1, RV21, R20 and G40.

The dog with E49, E47, E44, E43, E42, E40, B00 and R20.

The fence with E30, E35, E47 and E49.

The bear with E35, E55, E31, BG93, E70, E74, E77, E79 and R20.

Accents are set with the Sakura Gelly Roll 10.

The sky was wiped with Distress Oxides in broken china and tumbled glass.

I hope I was able to put a little smile on your face with this card and send my best wishes from a finally sunny Germany.

Angela here and today I have the honor to show you my card with the cute Gerda Steiner Designs digital stamp Happy  Birthday birds.

I start my card as always with creating the background. I cut out a piece of Bristol cardstock with a rectangle stitched die and use Distress Oxide Fossilized Amber for inking. After that I lay a Sunray stencil over the rectangle and inked it with Distress Oxide Dried Marigold. I printed out the digital stamp on a Copic Marker friendly paper and color the digital stamp with my Copic Marker.

After I’m happy with the result I fussy cut it out the image with my scissors and glue it on my background. Then I cut out a grass border and inked it with Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint. I glue the grass border at the bottom of the background and then all on my white card base. I also glue some tiny flowers on the grass and some butterflies over the birds and decorate them with some rhinestones. For the last step I glue three golden glitter notes over the birds.

Designing again for Gerda Steiner Designs! Today I have a fairly clean and simple card showcasing the absolutely adorable In Your Corner set. Confession: I would be deathly afraid if I saw a mouse in our house. But there’s something about Gerda’s amazing illustrations that just makes her mice so lovable! How can you resist that sweet face? 

First, I stamped the image onto the lower right corner of a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I masked off most of the image and stamped two mice onto another piece of cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with gel pens. Next, I fussy cut the additional mice images out with a sharp pair of scissors.

Mouse: E50/51/53/33, R000/20
Heart: RV10/13/14
Baseboard: C00/0/1
Mouse hole: C5
Floor: W00/0/1/3

I took another piece of white cardstock to create the card front. I used three circle dies (1”, 1.5” and 3” diameter) to diecut windows into the panel. I used this panel as a guide to ink blend the top portion of the Copic colored panel with some Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink.

This stamp set includes three sentiments. I adore these two sweet sentiments together … “I am in your corner. Always.” I stamped them directly onto the front panel with the same Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I thought it would be fun to position and adhere the additional mice images onto the back side of the front panel so that the mice can peek out of the circle windows. I added foam tape to the back side of the front panel and adhered the two panels together.

Finally, I adhered the panels to a white cardbase (4.25" x 5.5").

Jana here with my second card!

I am a huge fan of digital image (I love my stamps too!!!) because of the versatility of being able to resize as needed, or add a different sentiment.  I had so much fun designing this one. 

My granddaughter lives in another state so I don’t get to see her often. But
when she visits, we have so much fun in my craft room stamping, coloring,
cutting and laughing. So, when she has to leave, it always leaves me a bit
blue.
After stamping this adorable image from the In The Corner set, I colored it
with COPICs using B0000, B000, B01 and RV0000 for the mouse. The
flooring is C3 and C5; the baseboard C1 and the walls RV00 and RV02.
This sweet mouse has a back door directly to the outside. I die cut an arched
frame and then used a brick embossing folder. Since she wanted to festoon
her entrance with a bouquet of flowers, I immediately covered up the arch.
So you have to trust me; there is an arch there. The blooms and leaves
were all cut from scraps of pastel cardstock.

I’m hoping another granddaughter visit is in the works this summer and then
she and I can play with this fun set together.

Mimi Alegria here as a Guest Designer for Gerda Steiner Designs.

I used the Birthday Birds to create this Let It Snow card. The birds holding the signs really spoke to me as ifthey were judging some sort of sporting activity. That’s where the inspiration came for this fun winter card.

Printed out the digital stamp onto cardstock. Sorted through my stamps to find a stamp worthy of turning upside so you could only see the bottom part of the character since they were going to fall in the snow. Added ink only to the bottom half of the stamp then positioned it upside down. Colored the tree, birds, and the skater. Used a black paint pen to add numbers to the signs.

Use a popsicle stick to add Aleene’s Glitter Snow as the textured snow on the ground and on the tree.

Stamped the “Let it Snow” sentiment onto the card.
Glued the Birds to a blue card base.

Hello Crafties, it's Maaike here with my Guest Design.  Printed the digi, colored with alcohol markers, fussy cut it out.. I sized the digi to be as wide as my card (10.5cm or 4 something inches)).

I then  diecut a window into a panel so I could inkblend on the cardbase and frame the digi.

I traced the opening on to the cardbase, and applied Distress inks (Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo and Squeezed Lemonade) as a kind of Sunset sky. Splattered with gold metalling paint for shimmer.

I then stamped the sentiment from the Moody Unicorns set with Versafine black ink. I know the notes the birds are holding also have a sentiment, just wanted to break up some of the empty space.

Tucked most of the tree stem under the opning and the end of the branch I pulled to the top and adhered it with taperunner, added some white gel pen details on the birds

This guy has a mighty love and a huge dose of cute. What he lacks in size
he makes up for in heart. I love making Valentine and Anniversary cards
with cute critters and this is ready for the next time I need a card to say I
LOVE YOU!

I stamped the sweet image from the new In Your Corner set on white
cardstock and colored with COPICs: C00, C1, C3, RV0000 for the mouse;
R24, R27, R29 for his heart. I die cut the heart shape and then filled it in
with R24, R27, R29, and R56.

I knew I wanted to intersperse red and white hearts, so I firmly taped my
layering heart dies together before I die cut the red and white cardstock.
That ensured that I could intermingle the cuts and they would fit together
well. And, it’s a two-fer, because I now have a second set of hearts for
another card.

Embossed hearts onto white cardstock, assembled, and voila, it’s done.
Originally, I planned to fussy cut the mouse for the center heart, but my
Artistic Director (aka very patient and supportive husband) said nope, go
with the heart shape. And, I think he made the right call. I hope you do
too.

Mimi Alegria here as a Guest Designer for Gerda Steiner Designs.
Today, I enjoyed using the Birthday Birds Digital Stamp for this Halloween card. I was scrolling through my digital stamps to see if I had something that I could use as a skier for my “Let it Snow” card when I saw a digital
stamp for the bats. Immediately, I switched gears to make a Halloween card first.

I added the bats to the Birthday Birds. I added the letters of “HAPPY” to the signs the birds were holding. I then played around to get the word “Halloween” positioned just right in the corner of the tree. Printed it and added my web stamp to the paper. I tested out a few colors from silver to grey to black for the web.

Finally, decided on a dark gray as I didn’t want it to camouflage my “Halloween” word. This totally gives me “Charlotte’s Web” vibes. 🕸️

I did blend a purple background onto the card with orange and yellow at the top, but it didn’t photograph well. Oh well, maybe it’ll show up next time.

Colored the birds and the tree, added a withes hat to one of the birds. Then double-taped to my black card base. After adhering the image to my black card, I used some Halloween confetti to give the card some dimension: the spider and the webs in the corners.

Back again for another outing with the sweet little bird quartet in the latest GSD digital stamp-Happy Birthday Birds.  These little cuties are so much fun to play with and they are really quick to color up, which is great, if you need a card in a hurry.

This time I used the full-size digital image with the blank signs, cutting off a bit of the top and bottom, so I could add a splash of color with a little bit of border.  And once again they insisted on going outside to have their picture taken!!

The birdies can be any color, but I stuck with my favorite birds.  And of course you can color in the background, but I didn't want to take anything away from these sweet little birds and the message they were sending, so I chose to just outline the tree, birds and musical notes with light blue.

Look what's new! 
This little mouse just snug into the store.

We've been getting requests for this design after sharing a sketch on Social Media a while back.

Well guess what, this little mouse is now available as a 3x4 Clear Stamp Stamp. ;-)

The stamp is pretty straight forward and doesn't come with any cutting. 

Do you want to let someone know that you will always have their back? This little mouse stamp is perfect to share that message easily through your handmade card. This Clear Stamp Set stamps easily. It is also an option to extend the black lines of the walls or the tiles on the floor. 

The sentiments are: 

• I AM IN YOUR CORNER
• ALWAYS. 
• HAVE

The Corner, say that in the most adorable and heartfelt way.

For this card, I used C00, C1, C3, RV000 for the mouse and R24, R27, R29
for the heart. The baseboard is E33 and the flooring E35, E37 with a bit of
E33 thrown in. His bright and inviting mousehole is colored with Y02, Y08,
and YR04. For the wall, I masked the image along the baseboard and then
ink blended tumbled glass distress ink and then decorated the wall with a
small floret stamped in a coordinating color.

To finish this off, I used an arched frame to cut the image. Using two frames
from the set, I cut the white stitched frame and glued it on top. Finished it
off by stamping the sentiment from the set.

And, when you need a cute image to tell someone you’re there for them,
Gerda is in your corner with an entire menagerie of cuteness at her store.

greetings from Germany again today.

This time I don't have a card for you, but a little tutorial for a small Easter basket.

It is modeled on the typical fruit crates. You can decorate it however you like.

All you need is photo card, glue, scissors, a scor pal or something similar, a ruler and I think that's it.

First you need a piece of photo cardboard measuring 6" x 8".  This is folded from each side at 1" and cut as shown in the picture.

The side pieces are folded up and glued together to create the base of a box.

For the next step, we need 4 pieces of photo cardboard measuring 1.5" x 3.5". These are folded lengthwise in the middle and then glued in each corner.

Now we need 4 pieces of photo cardboard measuring 6" x 1" and 4 pieces measuring 4" x 1". These will be the cross struts of the box and glued to the long and short sides. And now the box is finished and can be decorated and filled. I think everyone will be happy about this little gift at Easter. Especially when there is not only something sweet inside, but also a cute GSD stamp.

Hi again to all my GSD family!  

I’m thrilled to be back doing an another guest design card using the adorable new set called Hoppy Easter!  For this card I wanted the focus to really be on the stamp, so I used a background stamp from Hero Arts that would make the image the focal point.  

I used Taylored Expressions Dried Fig ink for the background to coordinate with the colors I used to color my image. I used a combination of Copic markers and colored pencils to color the image and finished it off with a clear glitter pen from Scrapbook.com.

As always, I stamped my image on Neenah Solar White paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I think it came out nicely and I hope you like it too.
